Noted Western artists Bob Boze Bell, Ed Mell and Gary Ernest Smith have often explored the beautiful New Mexico land where Billy the Kid once roamed—in their art and in person. The fruits of one such trip are being shown in a new exhibit.

“Capturing Billy the Kid Country” runs from October 12 through 31 at the Overland Gallery of Fine Art in Scottsdale. Overland will host a reception for the artists on Thursday, October 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission for exhibit and reception is free.

“Ed, Gary and I have very different styles and approaches,” says Bell, Executive Editor of True West Magazine. “But we’re all fascinated by the legend of the Kid, which is so much a part of the West that we love. This show gives folks a chance to see how we interpret the legend.”

Bob Boze Bell’s art—including countless depictions of Billy the Kid—has been a hallmark of True West for a decade. The annual art October issue is his 100th issue of True West and is currently on newsstands.

True West magazine is in its 56th year of leading the way in presenting the true stories of Old West adventure, history, culture and preservation. For subscriptions and more information, visit TWMag.com or call 888-687-1881.
