New Menus, Culinary Programs Add Spice to Scottsdale’s Dining Scene

The pop-culture fueled Geisha A Go Go in downtown Scottsdale added an eight-seat sushi bar, dishing out specialty Americanized “rock and roll” style sushi creations. There’s the Gaijin, a sinfully good combination of spicy tuna and crab mix, avocado, and cream cheese, wrapped in seaweed, rice and a spring-roll, which is then – wait for it – deep fried. The Pokemon melds Fritos, breaded salmon, spicy crab mix and avocado.

Talavera at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North recently debuted a new menu focusing on fresh, seasonal dishes including starters like the Caramelized Onion Tart with prosciutto and melon and Goat Cheese Salad with baby beats, Asian pear and arugula. For those who can’t decide on just one item, Talavera now offers the Chef’s Two-Course Tasting menu where guests pay $34 (or $45 with wine pairings) to sample a selection of chef-recommended dishes like the Chicken Fried Quail with heirloom tomatoes and haricot vart. The menu rotates every week.

Sushi Roku at the W Scottsdale Hotel & Residences is offering a new program, Wine o’ Sake. Every Sunday thru Thursday, guests pay $12 for their choice of a flight of wine or sake and a special dish including some of the restaurant’s most infamous like the Hanabi Tuna, Miso Popcorn Shrimp or Filet Wrapped Asparagus. Sushi Roku also is adding a dose of goodwill to the food experience with the Dining Out with Benefits program. Running now thru the end of August, the restaurant will take 20 percent off your total bill and donate the proceeds to a select charity each month.

A Scottsdale Staycation Without the Kids

Mondrian Scottsdale: Mondrian Scottsdale is offering its Play Package for $145 per night, which includes accommodations and a summer amenity upon arrival. Guests also enjoy a $25 food and beverage credit at the BLUE Pool Bar & Grill and 20 percent off treatments at Agua Spa. Valid May 28 – Aug. 30. And Arizona residents can enjoy a special rate of $95 per night from May 18 thru Aug. 30 by showing a valid state license.
CopperWynd Resort and Club: The Spas and Dazs package starts at $399 and includes one night’s accommodations, two 60-minute spa treatments at The Spa and breakfast for two at Alchemy. Plus, guests can cool off and satisfy their sweet tooth with a pint of Haagen Dazs ice cream and toppings served in-room. Valid June 1 – Sept. 3.
Hotel Valley Ho: This hip, urban downtown hotel is offering its So Summer special, which starts at $149 per night and includes a toast to the season with a free celebratory drink upon arrival, 10 percent off the first VH Spa visit, 20 percent off dinner at Trader Vic’s and a Westcor shopping book with more than $700 in discounts in addition to VIP line passes to area nightclubs. And the property’s Days of Summer calendar is sure to keep guests entertained with special events like live music and dive-in movies throughout the week. Valid May 25 – Sept. 7.
The Boulders Resort & Golden Door Spa: Regular summer rates at the desert oasis begin at just $129 per night. The Golf & Spa package is an ideal escape for couples and starts at $339 per night. It includes luxurious casita accommodations, a daily choice of one round of golf or $100 spa credit, $50 dining credit and complimentary access to the Golden Door Spa. Valid thru Sept. 30.
W Scottsdale Hotel & Residences: Make a splash at the W Scottsdale Hotel where rates begin at $189 per night. Booking a summer vacation package gives guests reserved seating at the beach-inspired rooftop WET pool, complimentary breakfast, two complimentary cocktails, tanning lotion, a pair of flip flops and one night’s accommodations. Valid thru Sept. 13.

Bands such as The Dan Band, and The Gin Blossoms will be on stage performing at the block party. Craftsman Court will be blocked off between 5th ave and 3rd ave. Tickets can be purchased online for $20 or at the gate for $8 between 6-8pm.
	W Scottsdale New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball W Scottsdale will be hosting their New Year’s celebration masquerade style this year. New Year’s packages are available for those that want to spend the night at the W Scottsdale starting at $499 or general admissions can be purchase to attend the ball for $57.50 for women and $107.50 for men.
	New Year’s Eve Disco Party Want to party 70’s style? Raddison Fort McDowell Resort & Casino will be getting their grooves on 70’s style with a by performace by Wonder Boogie. Room packages are available starting from $339 or tickets can be bought for $70 in advance or $75 at the door.
	New Years Eve Dinner @ Taggia Not in the upbeat mood to dance and party? Taggia has a nice elegant meal for New Year’s Eve starting at $65. This is a pre-fixe which also includes a Champagne Toast at midnight. Reservations are recommended so please call 480-424-6095.
	Rawhide’s New Year’s Eve Bash At Rawhide you can enjoy an outdoor dinner with an entrée selection of Mesquite Grilled Baby Back Ribs, Angus Cheese Burger, or Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich & complimentary sparkling drink to toast the New Year. After dinner you can dance the night away. Tickets are $45 for adults and $35 for children.
	New Year’s Eve at Stone Rose Lounge If you would like to party with Scottsdale’s socialistas for an exclusive bash Stone Rose Lounge is the place to be at the Fairmont Scottsdale.
