Hotel Valley Ho’s Executive Chef Charles Wiley was named “Outstanding Manager of the Year for 2008” by the Arizona Hotel & Lodging Association.

GolfWorld Magazine recognized several Scottsdale golf courses on its lists of “Top 50 Public Courses” and “Top 50 Resort Courses” in the country:

The 2009 Mobil Five-Star Awards were recently announced and several Scottsdale businesses were recognized:

The Phoenician and Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North both received four-star ratings for the resorts category.
Talavera at the Four Seasons was honored with the four-star designation in the restaurants category.
In the spas category, Fairmont Scottsdale, Four Seasons, The Phoenician, Royal Palms Resort and Spa, and Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain all were honored with four-star ratings.

Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch was honored by Smart Meetings magazine with the “2008 Platinum Choice Award”, and with MeetingNews’ “2008 Planners’ Choice Award.” The resort also was named one of the best resorts for family trips in the Southwest region by Travel + Leisure Golf.

Fifth Annual Longbow Golf Fest

Longbow Golf Club will host the fifth annual Longbow Golf Fest scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2009; beginning at 9 a.m. This community golf event is designed to introduce new golfers to the game, provide a venue for avid golfers to hone their skills and test new equipment from major golf equipment manufacturers. Attendees will have the opportunity to demo as well as purchase (at preferred prices) the latest golf equipment from major manufacturers such as Ping, Nike, Titleist, Cleveland Golf and more. And as an added bonus, the first 100 people in attendance will receive a complimentary ticket to the upcoming FBR Open.

There will be numerous instructional opportunities available throughout the day as Longbow’s staff of teaching professionals will be on hand giving FREE LESSONS. In addition, a complimentary golf clinic geared towards junior golfers will be held. A raffle featuring great prizes (and benefiting junior golf) will be held throughout the day. Last year’s event raised much needed funds for area junior golf programs.
“We are looking forward to hosting the fifth annual Longbow Golf Fest,” said Jay Larscheid, general manager for Longbow Golf Club. “With free lessons offered throughout the day, club demos and a complimentary junior clinic, Golf Fest provides a great opportunity for the whole family to get into the game of golf.”
