Enjoy Easter Brunch at the Fairmont Scottsdale

Celebrating the newness of spring with a festival of flavors, the Fairmont Scottsdale is bringing together four restaurants and five chefs for one abundant Easter Brunch, Sunday, April 4, 2010. The Easter Bunny himself will join in the fun, visiting families as they dine, and each child will receive a treat-filled egg, with five lucky kids finding a golden egg inside with a big prize such as a “staycation” to bring the whole family back this summer. Live musical entertainment will also add to the brunch’s festive setting.

Overlooking the South Pool at the resort’s new Princess Falls waterfall, brunch-goers stroll through selections from four Fairmont Scottsdale restaurants, offering sustainable seafood, modern Mexican cuisine, the finest cuts of beef, fresh-from-the-farm produce, artful pastries and quite creative cocktails. Featured are:

La Hacienda by Richard Sandoval – By Chef de Cuisine Forest Hamrick

La Hacienda takes a vibrant new twist on Mexican food, featuring favorites such as mole poblano chicken breast, pipian de puerco confit of pork shoulder and a Southwest omelette station with a choice of cheeses, caramelized onions, chorizo, mushrooms, shrimp, crab, asparagus and more.

Featured cocktail: El Pina Diablo, a pineapple-serrano chile-infused tequila with pineapple juice, homemade sour mix and a splash of Triple Sec.

The Grill at the TPC Scottsdale – By Chef de Cuisine Erik Forrest

From fresh blue waters, The Grill selects the highest-quality seafood from artisan farmers through the CleanFish Alliance. Easter Brunch highlights smoked salmon and sturgeon, steamed “peel and eat” shrimp, a Laughing Bird shrimp salad, stone crab claws, an oyster bar and a raw bar with steamed clams and mussels.

Featured cocktail: The Comfort Cup, a concoction sure to improve one’s golf game, made of Southern Comfort, fresh citrus juice and muddled strawberry.

Michael Mina’s BOURBON STEAK – By Executive Chef Daniel Patino

Those looking for fine cuts of beef should head straight to this grilling station, with Kobe skirt steak and juicy rib-eye cap. Two decadent accoutrements are a Worcestershire demi sauce, made with veal stock, red wine, caramelized vegetables and balsamic vinegar, and the sauce au-poivre, made of veal stock, brandy, red wine, green peppercorns and cream.

Featured cocktail: The Cable Car, made of Montecristo spiced rum, orange curacao, fresh lemon and a cinnamon-sugar rim.

LV Bistro – By Chef de Cuisine Manuel Rodriguez

Fresh, healthy and organic, LV Bistro works with community farmers to get the best vegetables right from the field. LV Bistro offers breakfast items such as organic vanilla yogurt, granola, a breakfast griddle with French toast and all the toppings, beef brisket hash, international cheeses, salads, a carving station with lamb chops and Scottish salmon to order, and an assortment of grilled produce including baby artichokes, zucchini, roasted peppers, arugula and perfect-whipped mashers.

Featured cocktail: The Farmer’s Garden, made of house-infused tomato-cucumber vodka and house-made fresh juice blend of oranges, apples and carrots.

Pastry Art & Desserts – By Executive Pastry Chef Dave Blom

Chef Blom is a third-generation baker, whose chocolate and sugar masterpieces are as pleasing to the palate as they are to the eye. For Easter Brunch, Blom is creating Bailey’s coffee chocolate bombes, orange blossom angel food with strawberry concorde, passion fruit strawberry mirroir, peach & huckleberry tarts with lavender streusel, grasshopper cheesecake, carrot cupcakes with vanilla bean frosting, tiramisu dessert shots, chamomile crème brulee spoons, an assortment of miniature confections, hand-rolled chocolate truffles and pralines, fruited macaroons, plus an array of Danish pastries, muffins, hearth-baked breads and rolls.

Stone Rose Lounge – Featured cocktail: Gerber’s Signature Bloody Mary made with Finlandia vodka

Sipping Made Fun for Little Ones

Kids will have lots of bubbling beverages to choose from, including:

Fauxmosa – made with Sprite and orange juice
Martinelli’s Apple Cider – with fresh berries and foam
Canadian Shirley Temple – made with orange juice, Sprite and grenadine
Caramel Chocolate Hot Cocoa
Smurfy Lemonade – made with fresh blueberry puree and fresh-squeezed lemonade
Easter Freckles – made with fresh kiwi, strawberry and lime, blended with fresh-squeezed lemonade

The Fairmont Scottsdale Easter Brunch, including all of these outlets in one location just outside LV Bistro restaurant, will be served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 4. The price is $55 for adults (including a glass of champagne), $18 for children ages 6 – 12 and children 5 and younger dine for free with the purchase of an adult brunch. Fairmont Scottsdale Christmas Day Dining Menus:

LV Bistro: Straight from the farm to the table, this holiday buffet includes made-to-order omelets, Tasso ham and potato casserole, spiced eggnog French toast, a smoked salmon tasting, organic salads, brown sugar free-range turkey, grilled flat iron steak, prime rib, mascarpone herbed polenta, pumpkin spiced sweet potato gratin and an assortment of desserts such as a buttered rum chocolate pyramid, peppermint mocha torte, a caramel chestnut Yule log and Ethan’s Tipsy Fruit Cake. Pricing is $52 for adults, $27 for children 6 – 12 and kids 5 and younger dine for free with the purchase of an adult entree. With a children’s playroom in the back of the restaurant, the little ones can be entertained while the adults relax. The buffet is offered 10 am – 3 pm and the restaurant is open with an a la carte menu of fresh, local cuisine from 6 pm – 9 pm.

The Grill at the TPC Scottsdale: With the restaurant’s new focus on simple, sustainable seafood, The Grill offers a fresh new option for holiday revelers. To start, on Christmas Eve, The Grill is creating a special four-course dinner, including a champagne toast, for $55 per person from 6 pm – 9 pm. Then on Christmas Day, the restaurant presents an abundant seafood buffet featuring a raw bar and oyster station with cherry stone and razor clams, stoned crab claws, Saltspring Island mussels and smoked sturgeon; a carving station with whole Heritage turkey, carved ribeye, mesquite honey glazed Berkshire ham; entree offerings of pork osso bucco, Texas redfish and beef medalions; accompaniments of mashed potatoes, candied yams, French bean casserole; a breakfast station, and desserts including Stolen Bread Pudding, gingerbread cheesecake and bourbon pecan tarts, plus a glass of complimentary champagne and world-class views. The brunch is $62 for adults, $30 for ages 6 – 12 and children 5 and under dine for free with the purchase of an adult entree from 10 am – 3 pm. The restaurant is serving its new a la carte seafood menu from 6 pm – 9 pm.

Bourbon Steak: Christmas at Bourbon Steak brings a four-course menu starting with sunchoke soup with hazelnut gremolata, bacon and black trumpet mushrooms; a Liberty Farms duck breast with cranberries chicory and butternut squash vinaigrette; a veal loin and butter-poached lobster with cauliflower, chanterelle mushrooms and caper-raisin brown butter; culminating with a roasted chestnut honey cake with mascarpone cream and Bourbon Steak’s signature caramelized bourbon pecans. In addition to this menu, holiday guests may also order off this award-winning steakhouse’s regular menu. The Christmas menu is $87 per person. Cocktails are available from 5 pm – 10 pm, and dinner is available 5:30 pm – 10 pm.

More than 100,000 lights will adorn trees and displays during McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park’s Holiday Lights event this season. Festivities kick off at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 with a tree lighting, entertainment and a visit from . . . Santa! Holiday lights runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. through Saturday, Jan. 2, excluding Dec. 24, 25 and 31. Santa will be there nightly through Dec. 23. If you would like more information, call (480) 312-2312.

Wear your mittens and scarves for Scottsdale’s annual Holiday Harmony. This free, “snowy,” family event will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Civic Center Mall, 7380 E. Second St. There will be arts and crafts, entertainment, games, and a visit with Santa! Photos with Santa will be available for $2 with the proceeds benefiting the Scottsdale International Club dance group.
