Recycle Cans Installed in Downtown Scottsdale

The City of Scottsdale Downtown Group has placed recycle cans through out downtown Scottsdale.
The Scottsdale Downtown Group has installed 10 recycle containers in downtown Scottsdale. These containers are located at key activity areas, including Stetson Plaza at SouthBridge, the Canal Bank, all public parking facilities and public restrooms, and the heavily used trolley stops – 5th Street and Craftsman Court, 5th Street and Stetson, and 3rd Street and Craftsman Court. Residents and visitors to downtown can recycle cans and plastic bottles. Additional recyclables will be considered in the future as this effort grows. This effort was initiated by the Downtown Group in support of the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau’s green initiatives, as well as in response to input from downtown visitors who frequently asked where they could recycle cans and plastic bottles.

In NYC there is a 5 cent return on cans. The streets are cleaner and everyone makes out. I would think if NYC can do it, so can we. In tough times people can use the few cents it brings in and the enviroment is all the better.
Why hasn’t this been done? Perhaps if we all think outside the box we can oversome the obsticles.

Thanks for your feedback Bette. It’s great to see others who are interested in helping keep Scottsdale clean and take care of our community.

How much do you pay per pound for clean alum cans or can you give me the names of recyclers in town?

I was looking for a place to bring empty cans. I haven’t found anyplace yet. In NYC markets reimburse 5cents. Wish they did that here.

Great to see the interest in recycling! Try the “money for cans” machines in the parking lots of some grocery stores. I believe there’s one in the Sunflower parking lot at Miller and Camelback roads in downtown Scottsdale.
