Raft Arizona’s Upper Salt River Canyon
Via our newest member, AAM’s Mild to Wild Rafting:
The snowpack is great in the White Mountains and the river faucets will soon be delivering whitewater rafting fun on the Upper Salt River Canyon in Arizona starting Feburary 28th! The Salt River Canyon offers the first whitewater rafting in the United States each year on this spectacular 1000 foot deep, rock canyon river trip. Its thrilling (intermediate) rapids, spectacular scenery, wildlife and history make for the best backyard adventure for Scottsdale locals and tourists alike.
Both rafts and inflatable kayaks are available offering river guests an opportunity for an intimate experience on a guided tour in these spectacular canyons. Rafts hold 6-8 guests, plus a guide for navigation. Participate with paddles or sit back and relax while the guide rows the raft. Control your own destiny in an inflatable kayak (one person mini-raft) under the leadership of a highly trained instructor. Rafts and inflatable kayaks require no previous experience. Professional guide and all necessary equipment provided, including safety orientation and instruction.
Season lasts into May, depending on the future amount of snow, rain and extent of heat. March to early April;, with the spring runoff, is the best time for thrill seekers and mid April into May is the best time for families (ages 8 and up)!

yo, I was wondering what time of year the water peaks. we don’t want to miss the big water, and it seems the water is still rising. Is the middle of April to late for the high flow?
