Drive Tomcars with Desert Wolf Tours
Take a short drive up north to New River, Arizona and experience an off-roading adventure in Tomcars. These unique looking vehicles are primarily used by the Israeli Defense Forces special operations, but in Arizona these All Terrain Vehicles are for some serious fun. Desert Wolf Tours provide guided Tomcar tours through the Sonoran Desert, as well as firearms training.
Josh and I had the opportunity to take an afternoon adventure with Desert Wolf Tours. One unique experience that you’ll find out about Desert Wolf Tours is that you personally get to drive the Tomcar! Our very friendly tour guide, Brandon, guided us along various trails through the desert as these Tomcars can handle some pretty rocky terrain. The vehicle is equipped with a four point safety harness and Brandon regaled us with stories of 80 and 90 year old guests driving these vehicles with no issues.
Tours can be anywhere from a couple hours long and up to a full day. Guests control the pace of their own tour and can drive slowly and enjoy the beautiful Sonoran Desert or they can zip through the trail as fast as they can, which Josh and myself did. Desert Wolf Tours can also handle groups small and large (as many as 60 people). Team building excursions can be organized and have GPS Treasure Hunts as all Tomcars are equipped with a GPS receiver.
Now once your adrenaline starts pumping away driving the Tomcars and you feel a little more adventurous, Desert Wolf Tours offers firearms training. Not to sweat if you’ve never fired a gun before. Desert Wolf Tours goes over specific safety instructions so that everyone will feel safe and comfortable. Training begins with basic handling of the gun, aiming, and firing. You’ll have the opportunity to fire a Glock 9mm as well as an M4 rifle. Zev Nadler, the owner and operator of Desert Wolf Tours, did an excellent job making sure we were comfortable as he took us through this training. There is nothing like driving out to the middle of nowhere and opening fire. Zev is extremely knowledgeable and well trained.
The tour and gun shooting concludes at the Roadrunner Restaurant & Saloon. This restaurant is a true Western saloon, cowboys and all. Be sure to check it out after the tour. The Desert Wolf Tour was definitely an exciting time. Brandon took pictures through out the entire tour and at the end we had the option of downloading them from a secure website or having a CD burned. The photo site proved exceptionally easy to use and here are some of our photos to check out.
