Artist Adds a Tropical Touch to Every Day Items

by Josh Kenzer on October 22, 2008 in What's Happening |

Nelson Garcia-Miranda, resident artist at deseo at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, has extended his exuberant pieces of art from the canvas to non-traditional items like votives, champagne flutes and wine glasses. Guests can watch Garcia live in the restaurant as he creates vibrant paintings that are saturated with bright, tropical colors and hues. The hand-crafted pieces are available for purchase and add a unique twist to a dinner party or cocktail reception. A political exile from Cuba, Garcia’s art depicts life in his homeland as well as longstanding fables and traditions of Cuban culture. Before becoming the in-house artist for deseo, Garcia worked as a steward for the resort. The walls of deseo now serve as his vibrant gallery. For more information, visit www.kierlandresort.com.
